Going Seasonal With Holiday Ringtones
People have a true love affair with their cell phones. At one time, these devices were considered to be purely the realm of science fiction and the only legitimate version of a portable phone were those super expensive car phones that pop up in the old 1960’s and 1970’s TV programs (Usually only the bad guys owned them).
Eventually, the cell phone was developed but it was most definitely not a device that was easily accessible to the general public as the costs on these phones were rather high. In time, the price came down but there was a caveat: the ringing noise of a cell phone was exactly that: noise! Thankfully some creative minded people developed ringtones for cells that provided fun and unique sounds and music to alert someone that a call is coming in. Ringtones caught on like wildfire!
Not all are created equal and certainly not all are a brief affair. That is, while most people are familiar with those ringtones that offer a brief snippet of a song, there are those ringtones that can offer the whole song in its entirety. While this may seem like a bit over the top to some, such ringtones can be fun to listen to as well as also providing a bit of a smile on people’s faces when they hear what is essentially and entire 45 RPM playing on a cellphone. (Ok, they don’t make 45 RPMs anymore, but you get the general idea!)
Furthermore, these extended play ringtones can come in a variety of holiday themes. Whether it is Christmas, New Years, Halloween, etc, there are a great variety of holiday themed that can be played complete and unedited. After all, who would not get a kick out of listening to an extended version of Monster Mash every October when the cellphone rings? Ok, maybe not all that many people, but you get the general idea.
On a side note, it is wise to have a holiday themed ringtone altered when the holiday season is over. Having the full running time of “Joy to the World” blaring on a crowded city street in the middle of a July heat wave is kind of odd. Ditto that previously mentioned Monster Mash song ringing on December 24th. Then again, if you have a somewhat odd sense of humor both of those misguided attempts at being funny can be, well, pretty funny!
Regardless of what your actual motivation is, having a complete holiday song play as part of your melody can be a fun addition to what could be a dull evening up until those cool ringtones go off. So install a holiday song on your cell phone today!

Listen…
we dont call the shots here
we dont make the rules
we take what we get
get what we can
That’s learning the hard way
here on the streets
you can’t build a dream without a plan
(I shall speak)
let them hear you speak
(play for keeps)
they play to win
we play for keeps
(Chorus)
its not over til its over
its not over til we get it right
The odds are against us
they say we dont stand a chance
well theres no givin up
no givin in
when push comes to shove
you got to fight for what you love
you do what you must
do what you can
(I shall speak)
let them hear you speak
(play for keeps)
they play to win
we play for keeps
(repeat chorus 2x)
get it
(guitar solo)
the odds are against us
ya know we still stand a chance
theres no givin up
no givin in
its not over…..
(repeat chorus w/variation to fade)
